Friday 21st December 2012

Sam has recently been on the road with the Leicestershire and Rutland Paralymics GB Roadshow!

ruddockThe roadshow aims to provide athlete visits to schools, clubs and community settings throughout Leicestershire with the aim of capitalising on the increased interest in sport generated by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The 100 and 200m Team GB Paralympic sprinter visited Thomas Estley Community College in Harborough to talk specifically about his London 2012 Paralympic journey and answer any questions that the students may have. He also took the opportunity to visit the Old Mill Primary School in Harborough were he presented to two Year 6 classes. He noted the ‘huge responsibility to share (my) journey and remind young people that we are no different to them. They can turn dreams into reality too!’

Co-ordinator of the 2012 Games Legacy for Leicester and Leicestershire Dan Mitchinson highlighted the popularity derived from elite athlete attendance and hopes their experiences will inspire a generation to  become more physically active.
